The Dow Jones is no longer a bellweather for the economy, at least the "working class" economy. Previously, if companies posted profits, it was assumed that there was full US employment. Now companies manufacture overseas, so there are no jobs for the workers, yet the executives are raking it all in and unemployed workers are open targets for the Republican blame machine.
P. S. ...there is still a bunch of oil in the Gulf.....!
